The Dead Report Minute: The Last Man on Earth

In this Dead Report Minute: Dave will be presenting the film "The Last Man on Earth" at the Pacific Film Archive Theater on Halloween night. The film is a about a zombie-type virus that strikes Vincent Price's home town and then the rest of the world, turning people into roving packs of the undead- and hungry for the red stuff. More zombie than vampire, these creatures come from the same source novel that Night of the Living Dead got it's inspiration from: Richard Matheson's seminal zombie/vampire classic, "I AM LEGEND".

The Dead Report Minute: CineMacabre

In this Dead Report Minute: Newsflash! The Hollywood reporter releases details on Diary of the Dead's theatrical release. ALSO! Rue Morgue Magazine will present in their CineMacabre Movie Nights series the 1986 classic "Night of the Creeps". An excellent piece of Z cinema. It's got characters named after George Romero, Tobe Hooper, Sam Raimi, John Carpenter... It's filled with rad zombies and great cheap gags. If you can't make it to the movie- you should really netflix it. It's awesome. Did I mention the director Fred Dekker (RoboCop 3, Monster Squad) will be there!?! Go to http://rue-morgue.com for more info on the event.

In the meantime, here's...

The Dead Report Minute: CineMacabre

Oh hey-
I got a few letters and postcards asking why when you click the link to watch the show, it shows up so big in IE or Firefox that it fills the entire screen. It's because The Dead Report is presented in High Definition, much larger that some computer screens. But, if you instead right click (or control click for those Mac folks without two button mice) on the link you can choose to download the file- or 'save as...' Once saved, this file can be watched in most any media player. We like Quicktime or VLC.

Alternatively, we've got a few folks who aren't so ga-ga for the HD. And that's cool, that's cool. I'm gonna integrate the YouTube player in closer with the blog later this week. This'll allow you to watch all the TDR video's we've posted right here all in one spot. Blogger's 'videobar' is just a wee bit too random for my liking...

Dave will probably delete this post!

Tonight, we (read: ME!) got to interview Peter Finch of the KFOG morning show. He's currently appearing in "Aaah! Rosebud!" (which he also penned) -- showing at the New Langton Arts in San Francisco (it will be at the Julia Morgan in Berkeley next month.) Also featured is Dylan Russell, first time Thunderbird Theater director. They give old Sash the scoop on the current show, and things to come. Check out the most recent Dead Report Minute for more details.

(I don't want to get in to specifics about the show before the next episode airs, but you should all check out the podcast. LOVE THE PODCAST. WE WILL KNOCK HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2 RIGHT OUT OF THAT NUMBER ONE SPOT. DAMN KIDS.

Musings

While shooting my segment today (well, I guess it's not really a segment... filler maybe...), and going through a number of takes (it's kinda of like rehearsing while producing... a whole interesting thing about video v theater, which i'll save for another time...), I suggested that we have an out-takes segment or episode or extra or something. It will be fabulous when Dave has the time to do it.

In other news, Dave loves his brand new camera! So, we now have a camera that works... if only we had microphones that worked consistently.... If anyone is rich and wants to be our sponsor (or just our sugar daddy/mommy) email me! ;-D

TDR News Team will be at _Aaah! Rosebud! The Prequel to Citizen Kane_ this Friday. (http://www.thunderbirdtheatre.com/index.html) You should go. Support your local theater. Support your local theater doing zombie stuff. Support your local theater doing stuff that combines zombies AND Orson Welles. Young Orson Welles is damn hot and sexy. For reals. Check it.

Shoot. Lost track of time doing zombie research.
